Rockland County was faced with digging out this morning after the biggest snowstorm of the winter.
Clarkstown police said that more than a dozen roads in their town were closed because of downed trees.
In Sloatsburg, where 26 inches of snow fell, many residents were walled into their driveways by 6-foot snowbanks created by snowplows. Plow operators working the overnight hours said the storm left dozens of cars stranded in the village.
While main roads were generally clear, many secondary roads were still covered in snow. Many county schools were closed today because they were among the thousands of customers without power in the county.
