Snow clobbers White Plains

WHITE PLAINS -

Dainty flakes turned to heavy wet snowfall Wednesday afternoon with increasing intensity, clobbering areas like White Plains.

The storm wavered in intensity into Wednesday evening, bringing with it rain, then snow, then sleet and then snow again.  The weather prompted many downtown businesses to close early.

The mayor of White Plains said the city was prepared for the snow as accumulations started to build Wednesday. Mayor Mike Roach advised that unnecessary travel should be avoided.
