Lawmakers call on utilities to speed up power outage repairsPosted: Updated:
More than 100,000 homes in the Hudson Valley remained without power Saturday after the nor'easter.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer is demanding action after he says NYSEG stopped responding to calls Friday, right in the heart of the storm.
“We have emails from police chiefs of our towns, upset that they didn't get a return call. Residents who tried to call got no information, couldn't get any information,” says Latimer.
Latimer is also blaming Con Ed for what he says was a lack of proper preparation and now a dangerously slow response time.
That sentiment was echoed Saturday by Mayor Mike Spano, who tweeted, "It's now 12 p.m. There are 4,600 Yonkers customers without power. No Con Edison repair crews in the City of Yonkers & no time table for restoration."
Con Ed said it hopes to have 90 percent of power restored to Westchester customers by Tuesday night.
