A nor'easter tore through the region Friday, toppling trees in its wake, including one that fell on a house near the Harding Parkway in Mount Vernon.
On Sheridan Avenue, several fallen trees crushed cars. In other places, they tore down power lines, leaving them scattered in the street like spaghetti.
At one point, the city reported almost 3,000 power outages.
The mayor said Public Works crews were hard at work clearing the roads. He also said no one had been seriously hurt.
The DPW will also help remove the tree from the house on Clinton Place Saturday.
