POUGHKEEPSIE -

Poughkeepsie schools closed for a second straight day Thursday after threats of a shooting at the high school appeared on social media.

Eight schools remained shut down Thursday. Police and the FBI are investigating.

Parents in Poughkeepsie say they're concerned about gun violence.

"I don't want to see anything happen to my daughter. She's 12. She's in middle school. I think any parent would think it's terrifying and horrific," one parent tells News 12.

A message on the district's website says threats are taken seriously.
