YONKERS -

A Yonkers man has been arrested for allegedly abusing his toy poodle.

SPCA officials say a dog named Charlie Brown had to have his right leg amputated because of neglect by his owner Michael Burguiere.

The say an animal hospital put a splint and bandage on the dog’s leg after it became fractured last July.

Because of Burguiere’s neglect, a serious infection developed because the bandage became soiled with urine and embedded into the skin.
The dog was seized by the SPCA, and Burguiere was charged with animal cruelty by Yonkers police.

Charlie Brown has since been adopted by an SPCA volunteer.
