Car erupts into flames in New City

NEW CITY -

A car fire snarled traffic in New City during the evening commute on Tuesday.

Clarkstown police say the driver noticed an electrical problem and smelled smoke around 6:15 p.m.

The driver pulled over at the  corner of Route 304 and Ridge Road in New City, and the 2006 Acura erupted in flames. New City firefighters were called on to put out the flames.
According to police, the driver got out safely.  No one else was in the car.
