New Rochelle coach chops his locks for cancer

NEW ROCHELLE -

A New Rochelle hockey coach has made good on a promise to his team.

Paul Viggiano, coach of the New Rochelle High School hockey team,  vowed to his team that if they won the league championship he'd chop off his ponytail and donate it to make wigs for those with cancer.

His team accomplished their goal by winning the League C title, and yesterday Viggiano chopped off his ponytail. He says he would like to see others follow his example.  "All you hockey players with the flow, let it grow, and then cut it for cancer."

Viggiano says his inspiration comes from his mother, who had cancer. The hair will be donated to Locks of Love.
