State issues audit to Hempstead HS after low graduation rates

A state audit has been issued to Hempstead High School after a low number of students graduated last year.
According to a report, 36.7 percent of students in Hempstead graduated in the 2016 -2017 school year.
A state audit has been issued to see how many students are on track to graduate this year, according to Newsday.
Depending on the results, Hempstead High School could become the first in the state run by an outside manager.
The state says the audit could last several weeks and a decision is expected immediately afterward.
