Mamaroneck Playhouse to reopen as 6-screen movie theater

A Mamaroneck theatre that was shuttered and closed four years ago is opening up once again.

The historic Mamaroneck Playhouse, which originally opened in 1925, will reopen as a six-screen movie theater early next year.

Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy says the playhouse was bought earlier this month by developers in New York City.

“A lot of people have childhood memories of coming to the theater and experiencing it on a Saturday. And now our kids will be able to have that same experience,” he says.
