WAWAYANDA -

A 39-year-old man from Wawayanda is facing a number of charges Friday after state police executed a search warrant and found dozens of illegal firearms, authorities say.

State police say Norwell Therien was stockpiling a large cache of weapons, including assault rifles, handguns, dozens of high-capacity magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Police say they also found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms. So far, it's not clear if the weapons and drugs were found at Therien's home.

Therien, a father of three, is facing a total of 54 felony charges, including various weapons and drug charges as well as endangering the welfare of a minor. He is being held at Orange County Jail on $150,000 cash bail and $300,000 bond.
