A Mount Vernon woman is putting her talent to good use and knitting hats for the needy.

Maria Botelho has been knitting hats and blankets in her Mount Vernon home for years. She says with so much heartache in the world today, she wants to give back in her own way.

Since Christmas, Botelho has knit over 100 hats, in different sizes and colors to give to those who need it the most. She says she wants nothing in return.

Botelho's hope is for people to help deliver these hats to people who need them.
