Yonkers day care center to close next month

The Greyston Early Learning Center in Yonkers will be closing its doors after 20 years next month due to financial reasons.
According to a spokesperson, Greyston receives support from the Westchester County Department of Social Services, but the support falls short of covering all the costs associated with the day care center.
"My heart and soul wants to stay within child care, because I enjoy what I do," says day care worker Jessica Alicea. "We are a very close knitted family."
Parents say many other places are either filled to capacity or are too expensive.
Greyston is one of only a few centers in Southwest Yonkers that accepts Title 20, a financial assistance program.
A majority of the preschool children who have already left have been placed at other centers.
The remaining children who are still at Greyston will have until March 31 before the center closes for good.
A spokesperson for Greyston says they are helping parents place their children elsewhere.
