4ds agoCashless tolling has brought plenty of positive change for commuters, but it hasn't come without its issues, and there's now a call to address them.
State Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is calling for an amnesty program for incorrect toll violations caused by the tolling system near the Verrazano Bridge.
Malliotakis says there has been a spike in complaints for unwarranted violations, such as carpooling violations when the necessary amount of people were in a vehicle.
This amnesty program would allow those wrongly affected to come forward and have their fees waived.
A nearly identical program was put into effect recently on the Mario Cuomo Bridge.
The MTA responded, saying it will work with elected officials to resolve issues, but the agency didn't express thoughts on an amnesty program.
