A small dog was rescued from the icy Hudson River by firefighters yesterday.
Officials say a man was walking his Shih-Tzu without a leash on a river beach near the Rockland Lake area when it ran onto the ice.
Fire crews were able to brave the icy waters to rescue the pup. "We put in two divers in the water to get him out, and the dog seemed to be OK and is with the owner now," says Dana Mickle, of the Village of Nyack Fire Department.
Officials are asking residents to abide by leash law signs that are posted.
