Lost medal found in wallet reunited with owner

MOHEGAN LAKE -

A Westchester woman found the owner of an engraved medal she found in a wallet she recently brought from TJ Maxx Yorktown Heights.

Porvi Shah, of Mohegan Lake, had been trying to find the owner of the St. Christopher medal, but it wasn't until a News 12 viewer saw the story that she connected it to Nancy Picco.

Picco had given it to her husband while they were dating back in 1965 and the inscription says, 'To Eddie, Love Nancy.'

She says having the memento back means the world to her. The couple, who began dating in high school, were married for 46 years. Picco says her husband died 15 months ago.

Picco had purchased the wallet from TJ Maxx, then returned it without realizing the medal was inside. Shah happened to purchase the same exact item.

They met outside Panera Bread Monday night to make the exchange.
