Cheddar Morning Business Update 01/12: Facebook, Fiat Chrysler, smart mouth guardPosted: Updated:
Facebook is making big changes to its newsfeed - focusing on posts shared by family and friends instead of of publishers and brands. CEO Mark Zuckerberg tells the New York Times he wants to ignite meaningful conversations.
Fiat Chrysler is the latest company to make changes because of the new tax law. The car company says it's going to spend $1 billion to move production of some Ram pickup trucks from Mexico to a factory in Michigan, creating about 2,500 new jobs. Fiat Chrysler credits the new tax bill, which will create major savings.
And a cool gadget out of CES - a connected mouthpiece. Prevent Biometrics developed a smart mouth guard for athletes that can detect concussions in real-time. The head impact monitor system alerts coaches when players suffer brain trauma during a game, and prompts the athlete to receive medical treatment. The NFL plans to test the mouthpiece during the off-season.
