Yonkers man rescues pit bill from single-digit temperatures

A Yonkers man rescued what seemed to be an abandoned puppy on a street early Friday morning.
Dan Rohan says he found the approximately 7-month-old pit bull along Valentine Lane when temperatures were around 7 degrees outside.
"She was in the middle of the street. I was nervous. I didn't want anything to happen to the dog. I love dogs. Either way, it's cold. I don't think anyone likes to see that," said Rohan.
Rohan took her home that night, then found the alleged owner online and got into a heated exchange before taking the dog to a Yonkers shelter.
The owner, who according to her Facebook page lives in Yonkers, allegedly wrote in a text that the dog should’ve been hit in a car where she threw it out.
News 12 reached the alleged owner by phone. She said the dog escaped and that she never sent those messages. She says her phone was hacked by a vindictive family member.
Volunteers at the shelter decided to call the puppy Blue.
Yonkers police are continuing to investigate the situation.  There is no word on when the dog will be up for adoption.
