NANUET -

Retailers are expecting big shopping gains in the final weekend before Christmas.

The Shops at Nanuet were packed Friday and experts say they expect them to be even more crowded this weekend.

Ryan Hidalgo, general manager of The Shops at Nanuet, says sales this holiday season have seen a big surge.

"Everyone is reporting that sales are up over last year and up over what they had even planned for this year," says Hidalgo.

Many of stores and malls across the area will also have extended hours this weekend.

The Shops at Nanuet are open until 11 p.m. Friday and open again at 8 a.m. Saturday and will remain open until 11 p.m.
