New Castle officials are considering raising the age requirement on tobacco purchases from 18 to 21.
"We are committed to protecting young people, and passing this legislation will help achieve that goal," says New Castle Town Supervisor Rob Greenstein.
Scott Sessions, a personal trainer and former smoker, says he supports the move. But he says he would go further and increase the prices too.
"You got 15- to 18-year-olds smoking cigarettes," he says. "They're not going to want to spend up to $20 a pack."
About a month ago, the town passed another tobacco crackdown law, restricting where vape shops can do business.
