Vigil held for man who died in custody of Greenburgh police

A vigil was held Wednesday night for Jonathan Maldonado, the man who died while in the custody of Greenburgh police last week.
As News 12 reported, Maldonado was in the custody of Greenburgh police after allegedly stealing a cellphone from the Best Buy in Hartsdale. Police say they used a Taser to subdue him, and moments later he went into cardiac arrest.
Witnesses say they saw the 21-year-old swallow several packages of an unknown substance before the altercation with officers.
Maldonado's family recited poems and shared stories at the vigil.
His mother says the family is still looking for answers about what happened, and is asking anyone with information to call the state attorney general.
