Ossining education leaders play superheroes as part of reading initiative

OSSINING -

Some education leaders in Ossining helped students Monday get excited about reading.

District Superintendent Raymond Sanchez and Director of Teaching Carrieann Sipos played superheroes "Reader Man" and "Reader Woman" to help kick off a reading initiative at Park School.

They created a short video of them "flying" through Ossining, solving problems and gaining powers.

The educators say the event was more than just a learning initiative.

"Beyond just making sure students read and read well, we want students to enjoy and find love in reading and this is a moment to celebrate beyond the course of a school year and hard work. This is a celebration," Sanchez says.

A short skit was also performed for the students during the event.
