Yonkers schools receive $1.4M to fund after-school programs

YONKERS -

Schools in Yonkers have received $1.4 million to fund after-school programs.

The money will help nearly 6,000 students.

It will be used for a new after-school program for nine public schools in Yonkers. The program will be three days a week, two hours a day, and will focus mainly on computer skills and science.

As part of the state grant, the district will be getting $1.4 million for each of the next five years.
