Bronx teen arraigned in Yonkers shooting death

WHITE PLAINS -

A Bronx teen was arraigned in White Plains County Court Wednesday in the shooting death of his 16-year-old friend from Yonkers.

Horace Allen, 17, is accused of "recklessly" killing his friend Joseph Kuaffo when the two were playing with a 9 mm handgun inside Kuaffo's Warburton Avenue home in September. The gun went off and a bullet struck Kuaffo in the chest. Allen allegedly fled the home after the shooting before police caught him that same day.

Allen's attorney asked the judge in court for the teen to be moved to a youth shelter, claiming he's received numerous threats and has been in protective custody.

The judge said they would leave that up to the shelter's discretion. Bail was set at $100,000 cash and $250,000 bond. Allen's next court date is set for Dec. 13.
