Police name suspect in downtown Stratford bar shooting

Stratford police say the man suspected of shooting a bartender at a downtown bar last Tuesday is already in custody in Bridgeport due to another robbery and police chase last week.
The arrest warrant named Jachim Brown, 27, who is facing charges including robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a pistol. He is accused of robbing the business, which is called Bar, at the end of happy hour -- and then shooting bartender Regi Woodard in the stomach.
Two days later, Bridgeport police say he held up a clothing store. An officer working an overtime job nearby reportedly saw Brown fleeing the store and chased him down.
Investigators say they got a tip leading them to Brown, who fit the description.
Sgt. Jamie Rivera, of the Stratford Police Department, says forensic tests matched the gun from the Bar shooting to the one Bridgeport police found with Brown.
The victim remains hospitalized. His brother says he underwent a fourth surgery Tuesday.
Brown remains in Bridgeport police custody and will be re-arrested on the Stratford charges at a later date. Police say he is also being looked at in connection with other armed robberies in Bridgeport.
Meanwhile, a fundraising effort to help cover Woodard's medical expenses has raised more than $15,000.
