MOUNT PLEASANT -

A dog is being credited with saving a family from a home invader in Mount Pleasant.

Police say Juan Monegro from the Bronx was taken into custody last Friday after he tried to break into a home on Bedford Road in Pleasantville.

The homeowners say their dog’s barking woke them up, and they saw their motion lights come on outside. Then, they say they saw Monegro trying to get in from the back door before fleeing the scene.

A short time later, students from Pace University say Monegro tried to lure them into their car.

Monegro has been charged with attempted robbery with sexual intent. He has been arraigned on $20,000 bail.
