Officials: Be careful when deep frying turkeysPosted: Updated:
Health and safety officials are warning against "deep fry" disasters this Thanksgiving.
The National Fire Protection Association says that every year, deep-fryer fires are responsible for deaths, injuries, and millions of dollars in property damage.
Officials say you need to fully defrost the bird before placing it in oil. They also recommend not to use too much oil and keep the fryer outdoors, away from the house.
And if you're the chef in charge, wear oven mitts and protect your eyes.
