EMS workers raise awareness for eosinophilic disordersPosted: Updated:
A group of workers from Empress EMS in Yonkers had a “Thriller" of a time raising awareness for eosinophilic disorders.
The group accepted a challenge to mimic the dance moves from the popular Michael Jackson “Thriller” video from the 1980s.
"Rich Straub is one of our paramedics on the special operations division. He got the whole ball rolling. He edited his first video, which i think came out amazing,” said Lt. AJ Briones, of Empress EMS.
Briones says that Straub’s cousin suffers from eosinophilic disease, where the body produces too many cells called eosinophils that triggers chronic inflammation and potential tissue damage.
The lieutenant says it also took the staff about three hours to practice before shooting the video.
He says only a handful of clinics treat this disorder in the country.
