One person is dead after a three-vehicle crash on the on the border of Putnam and Westchester counties.

State Police say the crash happened just after midnight in the northbound lanes of I-684. They say Jon A. Slater, age 54, of Danbury, Connecticut, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Investigators say a commercial dump truck entered the roadway from the median and was rear-ended by Slater’s car.   Slater’s car then swerved over to the middle lane and hit a third vehicle. No one else was hurt.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
