Health officials are sounding the alarm for another hepatitis A exposure in Westchester County – this time a popular country club.
Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler says an employee with the illness worked at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in its Grill Room. She says the food worker had apparently been infected by someone in the recent Bar Taco outbreak, where five people were sickened.
"The symptoms we worry about is someone who says they feel sick to their stomach and have abdominal pains," said Amler.
Anyone who ate or drank at the club from Oct. 27 through Nov. 4 is urged to get preventative treatment right away.
The Health Department offered free vaccines Friday afternoon at the county clinic on Court Street in White Plains. Preventative care will also be available on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Amler says the best line of defense against hepatitis A is to get vaccinated and to wash your hands.
