Saw Mill Parkway reopens after crash

The northbound Saw Mill Parkway has reopened after a serious crash near the Cross County Parkway.

Police say two SUVs collided around 3:30 a.m. today near exit 4. Each SUV had only the driver inside with a 39-year-old Yonkers man in one and a 43-year-old woman from New York City in the other.

Both vehicles were severely damaged, and both drivers suffered very serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police say the man suffered a very severe leg injury.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed during  rush hour as police investigated.  The northbound lanes reopened around 11:30 a.m.

The cause of the accident has not been released.
