Westchester executive candidates stump ahead of Election DayPosted: Updated:
The race for Westchester County executive is in the final stretch, and incumbent Rob Astorino and challenger state Sen. George Latimer pounded the pavement Monday before voters head to the polls on Election Day.
Astorino stumped at a senior luncheon in Eastchester, touting what he called his greatest accomplishment in the past seven years.
"We haven't raised taxes in seven years. We're going on eight and the economy is moving in the right direction," he says.
Although Astorino cut taxes during his tenure, Latimer, who was in Mamaroneck Monday, says slashing county taxes and services only spreads the costs to others.
"They've gone up in Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Greenburgh, Eastchester, Rye City,” said Latimer.
