A firefighter narrowly avoided serious injury after a roof collapsed on him while he was battling flames in Somers on Monday afternoon.
Fire officials tell News 12 that flames broke out at the Heritage Hills Complex in a building that houses the gym and security offices. 
About 40 firefighters worked to put out the fire.

It was a close call for one Somers firefighter after the flames quickly spread to the roof. "We did have a partial collapse inside, some of the ceiling came down on one of our firefighters, a Mayday went out and the firefighter was quickly brought out within seconds and he checked out fine," says Somers Fire Chief Paul Jockimo.
Two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Investigators think a faulty generator is to blame for the fire
