Latimer accuses Astorino of inflating job numbers
Posted: Updated:Democrat George Latimer is accusing Republican Rob Astorino of inflating his job numbers during his tenure as county executive.
"Forty-four thousand jobs is not the number, 21,000 jobs is the number,” says the state senator.
Latimer, who just released his own polling data showing the race in a statistical dead heat, is talking about private sector jobs and accusing Astorino of inflating the numbers by more than double during his two terms as county executive.
Astorino says he is shooting straight and that this is just a case of Latimer cooking the books.
“He couldn't create a job if he tried,” says Astorino.
Astorino claims that Latimer is using data that doesn't include most of the county executive's first month in office, but rather just a portion of that time. Latimer says he plans on bringing up those job numbers to Astorino at the next debate, which is set for Nov. 1 on News 12.
