Cheddar morning business update 10/6: Costco to compete with Amazon, Walmart

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Costco is stepping up its delivery game to better compete with Amazon and Walmart. The retailer launched two new delivery options. Costco Grocery will deliver hundreds of non-perishable items in two days or less, with free shipping on orders $75 or more. A second service will delivery groceries and other items with a same day delivery option.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted he could get the lights back on long term in Puerto Rico. Musk wants to rebuild the power grid on the island using independent solar and battery systems. Tesla has already sent hundreds of Powerwall battery systems to Puerto Rico, along with technicians to help install them.

And Apple showed off its new emojis coming to iOS 11. Some new additions are a takeout box of Chinese food, a giraffe, a zebra, a dinosaur and I love you, in sign language.
