WHITE PLAINS -

A young woman from White Plains is recovering this morning after a mentally ill person threw acid in her face in France.

Police say Michelle Krug was among four Boston College exchange students studying in France who were attacked with acid at a Marseilles train station.

All four students were treated for burns at a hospital in Marseilles and released. Boston College released a statement saying it’s proud of how the students handled themselves throughout the ordeal.

The attacker is a 41-year-old woman described as mentally unstable. Police say the attack is not considered to be terrorist-related.

In a Facebook post, Krug asked people to pray for her attacker, that she gets the help she needs and said mental illness should not be villianized.

All the students say they plan to remain in Europe for their studies.
