Incumbent Thomas Roach defeated Councilwoman Milagros Lecuona in the Democratic primary for White Plains mayor Tuesday night.
Roach has been serving as mayor since 2011, and this was the first time in 10 years there had been a Democratic primary for the city's mayor.
Lecuona has been serving on the council since 2008 and has also accepted the Republican and Conservative nominations for mayor. This means that she will still have the GOP and Conservative lines in the November election.
Roach says he is proud of what he's done in the past six years.
"I'm very fortunate to have so many great people that put in so much time on my behalf," he says. "I'm proud of our city. I'm proud to be the mayor of this city and I look forward to the election in November."
