YONKERS -

Students in Yonkers returned to school this week.

There were more than 27,000 students entering the district's 39 schools for the first day of school, including 990 ninth- through 12th-graders at Riverside High School.

“Let us keep our students safe, protect and care for them and that's what we're working on that and keep our families engaged,” said Dr. Edwin Quezada, superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools.
