Buses back on road as kids head back to school

YONKERS -

Thousands of students headed back to school today in Westchester’s largest city.

As kids make their way to the classroom, leaders in Yonkers are kicking off a safe driving campaign.

They are encouraging drivers to be patient and extra cautious as traffic increases across the city. "Pay attention, watch what's happening and notice [and] look for things, especially our young people... by paying a little more attention," says Mayor Mike Spano.

The Yonkers schools superintendent says that, starting today, there will be 600 school buses on the roads.
