Burglary suspect leads police on wild chasePosted: Updated:
A man wanted on numerous burglary charges led state police on a wild dangerous chase Tuesday afternoon.
Police say they spotted a car in Wallkill that they say was involved in a string of thefts in New Jersey. The driver, Michael Masonius, 25, fled when officers tried to pull the car over, according to officials.
A high-speed chase ensued onto I-84 with Masonius crossing the median several times and driving the wrong-way on the highway, police say. Masonius also hit an ambulance during the chase. When police finally got the car to stop, Masonius took off on foot, but was caught a short time later.
Masonius now faces several charges, including reckless endangerment, assault, resisting arrest and drug possession.
Masonius is in Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail.
