Peekskill rally protests decision to end DACA

PEEKSKILL -

About 30 protesters gathered outside Sen. Chuck Schumer’s office in Peekskill Tuesday to show their outrage at President Donald Trump’s decision to end the DACA program, which protects young immigrants.

The protesters called for quick action by Congress to make DACA law.

None of the protesters were so-called “dreamers” or recipients of DACA, but they said they felt compelled to stand up for “dreamers” in the Hudson Valley.

A lawsuit by the state of New York is forthcoming. On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised to sue the federal government if the president ended DACA.
