Yonkers gets ready to go back to schoolPosted: Updated:
Back-to-school day for Yonkers students is just two days away, but teachers at Montessori School 27 are already anticipating the first day of the new school year.
Nearly 400 students from pre-K to sixth grade will report to Montessori School 27 on Thursday. However, teachers, along with the school principal, were already going through their agendas today.
According to Superintendent Edwin Quezada, who is making sure to visit all 39 schools before Thursday, School 27 has seen both ELA and math scores rise over seven and a half percent this past year. This increase is way above the state average, and he credits that to the environment the kids work in every day.
Most students will report to class at School 27 on Thursday, Sept. 7, except for pre-K students, whose first day is Monday, Sept. 11.
