School begins for pediatric inpatients in ValhallaPosted: Updated:
The school year began Tuesday for many students in the Westchester and Hudson Valley area – including those who can't make it to the classroom.
Classes are in session at Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla – the only public school district in the U.S. that educates students as either inpatients or day students.
A total of 145 students from grades K-12 are enrolled in the Mount Pleasant Blythedale Uniion Free School District.
Educators say they make sure the curriculum caters to every student’s needs.
