A garbage truck crashed into a utility pole in Monsey on Monday, sparking a fire.
Police say the truck took down several powerlines on Forshay Road and smoke could be seen coming from the truck afterward.
The driver of the truck is expected to be OK. It is still unknown what caused the crash.
The accident happened right next to a synagogue, scaring a number of people inside. "People in the synagogue, while they were praying, heard a big bang. And with all the news going on, we thought it was an attack or explosion. We were ready to run. Then we noticed it was the wires," says Abe Deutsch, of Monsey.
