Cheddar Morning Business Update 8/8: Samsung to unveil new smartphone

NEW YORK - On Wall Street, markets are coming off 9 record high closes for the Dow.

Today investors are waiting for Disney to report its recent earnings after the closing bell.

Investors are particularly interested in the performance of ESPN, which recently laid off a lot of workers because of falling subscriber numbers.

Meanwhile, Google fired the male software engineer who wrote an internal memo that argued women aren't suited for tech jobs for "biological" reasons.

Lastly, Samsung is unveiling a new, more rugged version of its flagship smartphone, with a thicker frame and heftier feel.
