DOT: Expect major delays, backups on Sprain during projectPosted: Updated:
Construction crews and cones were already out on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh Thursday, gearing up for a 90-day bridge reconstruction project.
State Department of Transportation officials held an open house regarding the plans Thursday at Pace University in Pleasantville.
The DOT says traffic on the parkway will be shifted from three lanes to two in both directions between Route 100-C and Interstate 287 in Greenburgh starting Aug. 21.
Officials say the retaining wall next to the bridge needs to be stabilized, so it chose to repair both at the same time as a cost- and time-saving measure.
Drivers can expect major delays and backups going through stretch of the parkway until construction is completed in late November, ahead of Thanksgiving.
