Yonkers mom gives birth in front of White Plains Hospital
A Yonkers mother in labor gave birth to a healthy baby girl in front of valet parking at White Plains Hospital.
Elvira Gibaldi says she was on the way to White Plains Hospital Wednesday with her husband, Christopher, and her mother-in-law when her contractions grew more intense.
Gibaldi says she couldn't make it inside so she sat down, and one push later, the baby arrived...and then came the nurses.
“Thank God I didn't put a skirt on because if I put a skirt, she could have fallen to the ground and could have been injured,” she says.
The baby was named Antonella because she was born on Saint Anne's Day. Saint Anne is the patroness of women in labor.
The family, which has strong Italian Catholic roots, believes Saint Anne was watching over them Wednesday.
