Murder suspects appear in court

WHITE PLAINS -

The four men suspected in the shooting death of a Mount Vernon man appeared in the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains today.

Authorities say the four men shot Trevon Boswell, 24, of Mount Vernon, and robbed him of a gold chain on Washington Street last May.

Eric Lee, 25, and Sincere Smith, 21, pleaded not guilty today to second-degree murder charges, while Allen Copeland, 21, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges. John Oquendo, 20, pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon charges. All are being held without bond.

Mount Vernon police say all four have prior arrests for violent crimes.

There were no visible family or friends in court today during the proceedings. However, Sincere Smith’s grandmother arrived late and told News 12 that her grandson would have never hurt Boswell because Boswell was a friend of the family.
