Mel's Army-Navy closes in Pearl River

It's the end of an era in one Rockland community as a longtime, popular business is shutting down.

Mel's Army-Navy center in Pearl River is closing its doors in just a few weeks.

Mel's has been selling outerwear, denim clothing and camping and hunting gear since 1955.

The current owner, who took over from the store's founder five years ago, says he can no longer juggle both Mel's and his full-time job in marketing. He was also unable to find another owner.
