Drug overdoses suspected in Yonkers deathsPosted: Updated:
Drug overdoses are suspected in the deaths of two men found at a convenience store in Yonkers on Sunday.
Yonkers police tell News 12 they were called to a store on Lawrence Street just before 3 p.m.
No one in the store wanted to speak on camera, but one worker told News 12 off-camera that the two men came in to the store asking if they could use the bathroom down in the basement. When they didn't come back up, someone found them both unresponsive on the floor and called 911.
EMS crews tried to revive the men, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. They also say there are no apparent signs of foul play.
Police say they believe the deaths may be due to drug overdoses because a substance was found at the scene, but they haven't revealed the type of substance found.
According to detectives, both men are from Yonkers and aged 32 and 45. Friends have identified the two men as Mario Soles and Selvin Gomez. The two allegedly came from Guatemala and worked in construction.
Police say they are now looking at surveillance video, interviewing witnesses and working with the Westchester Medical Examiner's office on the case.
